Current Phase: Finalists Announced!

Our finalists were announced on January 1, 2023 and we couldn’t be more excited about the many great books on the lists! Click the links below to read more about the finalists.

Round 2 judges are now reading the finalists to choose one winner per category. Winners will be announced on February 14.

Ultimately, I wrote the description for Ander & Santi Were Here. This book resonated deeply with me because I do not hold the identities of the main characters and yet the foundational experience in my life in Guatemala was such because it called into question my assumptions about both the homogeneity of identity, how it is tied to place, and the layers involved when you believe you have a role as an advocate or ally.

I encourage you to read Ander & Santi Were Here, along with the other listed finalists. I will be excited to learn which novel the final review committee selects as this year's Cybils Award winner in the Young Adult Category.
